The Business Professionals of America Board of Trustees welcomed new members elected or appointed to the governing board and elected officers at a meeting held May 8 in conjunction with the organization’s National Leadership Conference in Dallas. The following new members were elected to serve three-year terms beginning in May 2022:
- Devin Alexander, State Advisor (Florida)
- Kevin Benjamin, Business Representative
- Andrea Leal, Alumni Representative
In addition to the elected members, Angie Benson was appointed as the National Business Advisory Council representative. D’Schon Simmons, Secondary Division President, and Engen Sundberg, Post-secondary Division President, joined the board as ex-officio voting members. Steven J. Mitchell, National BPA Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, joined the board as an ex-officio non-voting member.
In the reorganization meeting, trustees elected the following 2022–2023 officers:
- Chair - Paxton Cavin
- Vice-Chair - Angie Benson
- Secretary - Deb Schwager
- Treasurer - Devin Alexander
The following Board of Trustees members concluded their terms of service:

- Garrett Bock, Business Representative
- Debbie Darnell, Immediate Past Chair (ex-officio)
- Steve Darnell, Interim Executive Director (ex-officio)

- Amy Riddle, State Advisor (Alaska)
- Evan Wolff, National Business Advisory Council
Thirteen voting members and two non-voting ex-officio members comprise the National BPA Board of Trustees.
