The Responsibility of Democracy

We at BPA hold the values of democracy close to our hearts, so close in fact that we celebrate patriotism as one of our pillars and recognize its importance through the Torch Awards. We believe that we all have a responsibility to uphold our democracy and as such we encourage our members to participate in the democratic process in a variety of ways.

Throughout our nation’s history, citizens have strived for safe and fair elections, where every vote is counted and every voice is heard. One of the defining characteristics of our nation is the peaceful transition of power and we must continue to pay respect to this long held political process to assure our democracy lives on. The disturbing and unprecedented violent attack on the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. left us deeply shaken.

This past year has been filled with so many challenges, but hope remains.  We must find our strength in one another. As an organization, we strive together and we succeed together. However, we only succeed when we embrace the variety of perspectives that every citizen of this great nation possesses with an open mind and open heart.

Though we may not always agree and we may have differing political beliefs or affiliations, each and every one of us must continually do our part to create a better world. When we come together, we bring our nation together. We encourage you to stay connected, reach out to one another, listen to one another and support one another.  BPA members, we can we can empower one another and change the world and together we can celebrate better tomorrows.
