  1. During which years were you an active member of BPA?
I was a member of BPA from 2007-2017.

  2. What was your most memorable moment or achievement during your time in BPA, and why does it stand out to you?
My most memorable moment was when I was elected as a national officer the first time. I served three terms as a national officer, but when I was a junior in high school I lost [the election]. It was the most humbling experience!

  3. Can you share your current profession and how your experience with BPA shaped your career path?
I am a shareholder at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. My practice consists of general civil litigation with a focus on family law, estate planning, probate administration, and immigration. I represent victims of domestic violence who need and deserve a guiding hand through extremely difficult times. Also, I serve proudly as the firm’s co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

BPA helped me overcome my fears of public speaking and taught me how to be a leader.

  4. In what ways did your involvement in BPA help prepare you for your future? Are there specific skills or experiences that have been particularly valuable?
BPA challenged me to be a better leader and professional. I also got to travel the country and meet people from all over. Meeting people from different parts of the country was life changing.

  5. In what ways do you continue to stay connected with BPA, and how has your involvement evolved since graduating?
I served as a national officer for three years and as alumni council president. I have also volunteered at my state chapter state leadership conference. Most importantly, I stay in touch with the friends that I have made all over the country.

  6. What advice or words of wisdom would you offer to current BPA members who are looking to make the most of their experience and prepare for their futures?
Take advantage of everything BPA has to offer. I am so grateful for all the opportunities BPA gave me over the years. BPA taught me invaluable skills and helped shape me into the leader and professional that I am today.
