Business Professionals of America Members Receive Honor for Achievement

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is proud to recognize Justin Chan of Middletown High School (DE), Noah Rossi of Newark Charter Jr/Sr High School (DE), Maegan Jong of William Fremd High School (IL), Anuva Shandilya of Neuqua Valley High School (IL), Stanley Rozenblit of John Adams High School (IN) and Anika Ahluwalia of Wayzata High School (MN) for being named among the students recognized as part of the 2019 class of U.S. Presidential Scholars.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President, this program spotlights academic achievement of outstanding high school graduates. In 2016, the program was expanded to recognize achievement in Career and Technical Education (CTE). Each year, thousands of students are identified as eligible for recognition, but fewer than 200 are selected to receive the award.

In all, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program cited 161 high school seniors for their accomplishments in academics, the arts and CTE. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, appointed by President Trump, selects scholars annually based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.

“We at Business Professionals of America are proud that six of our members have been recognized at the highest level for their academic and community service activities with this prestigious honor,” said Executive Director, Dr. LouAnn Ross.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored more than 7,500 of the nation’s top-performing students with the prestigious award since its inception. The 2019 ceremony and Honors Dinner will be held Saturday, June 22 and offers an opportunity for each honoree to be recognized and receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.

“With more than 5,200 candidates that qualified for this program, to be honored at this level is a true testament to the exemplary level of community service, leadership, and educational excellence each of these three individuals possess,”  said Ross.
