Secondary President

John Woodward, Iowa City West

President Elect, John Woodward, is a Senior at Iowa City West High School.  This is his fourth year in BPA and his third year on the Executive Board, the leadership team for his local chapter. Outside of BPA, he enjoys backpacking, triathlon training, and coding. John looks forward to creating better communication and more success for the entire membership of Iowa BPA. In BPA, he competed in the Web Design Team placing 2nd in the nation in Dallas last year.  His other national qualifying special events include HR management and Presentation Management Individual. John always leads from the front and will help make 2022-23 one of the best for Iowa BPA.

Secondary Vice President

Karen Liu, Iowa City West

Karen Liu is a junior at Iowa City West High and this is her third year in BPA.  She is on her school's executive board and her favorite BPA events are Prepared Speech and Small Business Management Team. She enjoys being a part of BPA because it allows her to build relationships with different people that all have a passion for business. Outside of BPA she works at a local restaurant as a hostess and has been a competitive swimmer for 9 years. She’s recently started volunteering at the VA Hospital and is a Registered American Red Cross Volunteer. Karen became a state officer because she wanted to be able to lead a club that she has gained so much from.

Secondary Vice President of Marketing

Abby Renoux, Washington

Abby Renoux is a senior at Washington High School and this year's Vice President of Marketing.  Along with BPA, she participates in competition dance, FFA, and the Relay For Life committee. In the coming year, she will be attending The University of Alabama to study criminal justice and political science, along with a minor in business. Abby shared these comments, “My excitement and gratitude for being a part of the officer team for my second year is beyond words. This organization has given me so many incredible opportunities, and I'm looking forward to sharing those same experiences with other members.  I cannot wait to make even stronger impacts in the coming year!”

Secondary Secretary/Treasurer

Coilee Hynek, Cedar Rapids Prairie

Coilee Hynek is Iowa's BPA State Secretary/Treasurer. She attends Prairie High School and is currently a senior. She has been involved in BPA for what seems like forever, due to the influence her local advisor from Prairie has made on her.  The local advisor just happens to be her mom! She also participates in tennis, basketball and manages the Prairie volleyball team.   Other clubs she is involved inNational Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Student Council as the Senior Class President. Coilee is very busy but always has time for her pets at home. She has two dogs Bodi and Koda, two cats Motor and Kramer and a chinchilla named Gibby. She has fallen in love with BPA and is so grateful she gets to represent the State of Iowa her senior year. She wants all Iowa members to know she is open to communicate anytime they need help and cares about their 22-23 experience.

Secondary Reporter

Taylor Bartholomew, Washington

This year’s reporter is Taylor Bartholomew. Taylor is a junior at Washington High School. She is a three-year member of Washington’s BPA chapter, where she serves as the Vice President. This past year she attended the National Conference in Dallas, Texas. Her favorite part of BPA is the amount of people she has met, and the amount of skills BPA has taught her. She has grown up playing sports and raising cattle on her small family farm. Taylor loves hanging out with friends and family in her free time.  She is excited to work with all of the Iowa BPA members this year.

Secondary Parliamentarian

Amanda Ogle, Bedford

Amanda Ogle is this year's Iowa BPA Secondary State Parliamentarian. Amanda is currently a student at Bedford High School where she is involved in her local BPA Chapter where she serves as her chapter's President. Outside of BPA Amanda is also involved in many other organizations including FFA and HNS. However, BPA is her first priority. When Amanda is not in the classroom, she is on her family acreage raising livestock. She currently has five goats, eight rabbits, and over fifty poultry birds. Amanda is very excited about the opportunity to serve BPA and all of its members. Serving on the State Officer Team has been a dream come true for Amanda.

Carly Palmer, Northeast Iowa Community College, Calmar

Hey everyone! My name is Carly Palmer, and I am currently serving as your Post-Secondary Iowa BPA President. I am currently at Northeast Iowa Community College with a major in Business Administration with a Financial Accountant Diplomacy. Some things you should know about me is that although I love being a business professional, I am a total country girl at heart and love anything related to milking cows, farming, or machinery. I am beyond honored to have this position and can’t wait to meet you all and get to experience our wonderful association of BPA alongside you! I hope I can make a difference in this association with increasing our involvement and membership as well as assist you all in any needs you may have. Looking forward to a great year.

Post-secondary Vice President

El Schumacher, Northeast Iowa Community College, Peosta

Hello! My name is El Schumacher, I am a part of the NICC Peosta Campus BPA chapter and I am your Vice President this year. I graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in the spring of 2022 where I participated in Student Council, National Honors Society, Mock Trial and Speech Team. I am now attending Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta and working on my General Education courses in hopes of attending a University at the end of the Spring 2024 semester. I joined BPA to broaden my education, resume and network. I have acquired those aspects and much more, I have made amazing friends, strengthened my soft skills and learned more than I could ever imagine. This organization has truly changed my life and I can’t wait for what is to come!
