After familiarizing yourself with the organization, a great place to get started is the Workplace Skills Assessment Program, where your students can put the skills they’re learning in class to the test, competing against students at the regional, state and national levels.
We also would like to point you towards our BPA Cares Awards Program and our Torch Awards Program, which provide opportunities for your chapter and students to stand out and be recognized for serving their chapter, organization, and community.

Your State Advisor is your primary contact for getting involved in State and regional conferences, which is where members compete in WSAP events in order to qualify for the National Leadership Conference. Your State Advisor is also your primary contact for State awards programs, State officer elections, etc.
The National Center Staff and national Web site serve as your primary contacts for help with the Membership Registration System, the National Leadership Conference, WSAP Event Guidelines, National Officer elections, and other national programs such as national scholarships, the Torch Awards Program and BPA Cares Awards.

The following are deadlines for registering chapter members:
November 1, 2018: Membership processed by Nov. 1 will allow your chapter to:
- Continue to receive all communication from BPA
- Ensure membership deadlines for regional and state events
- Ensure early processing of registration pins & membership cards
February 15, 2019: Registrations received after this date will not be eligible for competition at the National Leadership Conference.
State Association Membership Deadlines: Contact your State Advisor for this information.
DEADLINE EXCEPTION POLICY
Who May Apply: In the following cases, chapters may receive an exception to the policy of the February 15 deadline:
- Local advisor error (i.e. member can verify that dues were paid prior to February 15 deadline)
- Other extenuating circumstances
Upon receipt of request for exception, each particular situation will be reviewed by the National Staff for approval.
Procedure: At least thirty (30) days prior to the start of the National Leadership Conference, the local chapter must submit a request for exception to the February 15 membership deadline. The request must include the following:
- Completed chapter membership rosters to replace lost or missing rosters, along with appropriate dues payment
- A written request from the advisor, indicating the reason for late payment of dues
- State advisor approval
Exceptions A chapter may not request an exception for two consecutive years, unless the person serving as advisor is not the same person who requested an exception the previous year.
Using the online Membership Registration System to register your members each year is required for participation and to be a part of BPA at any level. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions and their respective answers to help you through the process:
I entered members into the registration system, but did not receive an Invoice.
Once logged into the registration site, Click Step 5: Prepare/View Invoice. Confirm that you have pressed the Submit button at the bottom of the page. If you haven’t, click Submit and an Invoice will be emailed to you. If you have already clicked Submit, click on the Invoice Number and then click File and then Print in your browser to obtain a copy.
How do I obtain a copy of my Invoice?
Once logged into the registration site; click on Step 5: Prepare/View Invoice, click File and then Print in your browser.
How do I add an Advisor?
Once logged into the registration site, click the Add/Edit button just below your Chapter ID and then click the Add New Advisor button.
How do I change my contact information (Email, Address, etc.)?
Once logged into the registration site, click the Add/Edit button just below your Chapter ID and then click the Edit button next to the Advisor you wish to edit.
How do I change the spelling of a name of a student?
Once logged into the registration site, click Step 1: Enter/View Your Members and click the Edit button next to the Member’s name you want to change. This will allow you to submit a Name Spelling Correction Request to the National Center.
I need to delete/substitute a member name?
You must make all deletion/substitution requests within 5 days of your invoice submission. Requests can be sent to Jonathan Smith, Director of Member Services & Events at email@example.com. Deletion requests submitted after 5 days of invoice submission will be subject to full payment. Substitutions cannot be made after 5 business days.
I need to transfer members from one chapter to another.
Please make this request via email to National Center, specifically the Director of Member Services & Events, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include member first name & last name as well as the Chapter ID to transfer to.
How do I obtain a copy of my Membership Roster?
Once logged into the registration site, click on Step: 1 Enter/View Your Members and then click File and Print in your browser to print an official copy.
How do I locate my student’s ID numbers?
Once logged on to the membership site, click on Step: 1 Enter/View Your Members and you will be able to view the Member ID numbers next to each member name.
When do I need to submit payment for my Membership Invoice?
You must submit payment either within 30 days of registering members through the registration site or prior to your first conference (Regional, State, National), whichever date is earliest.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Please use the Credit Card Authorization Form when submitting payment via credit card.
