JOB TITLE:
Director of Education and Professional Learning

SUMMARY:
This position is full-time (exempt) with primary responsibilities to be an innovative leader with high integrity and is responsible for managing the efficient and effective design, development, and delivery of all education programs for BPA. The position must be an excellent communicator with strong organizational skills and be able to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships. The position is responsible for overseeing the development and administration of all educational program services, including professional learning and development, student and advisor industry certifications, the advisor resource center, the CTE advisor curriculum, Workplace Skills Assessment Program, virtual competitions, and national showcase. Specific duties of this role include but are not limited to:

Educational Programming Oversight

  • Managing all of BPA’s educational programs and ensuring that all student programs, including competitive events, are aligned to national curriculum standards
  • Developing frameworks for BPA’s educational conferences and recruiting necessary presenters/facilitators
  • Monitoring trends in Career and Technical Education and other student programs
  • Developing written and online support materials for students and advisors to aid in preparing for BPA’s competitive events and other student programs
  • Identifying and promoting industry credentials for student attainment
  • Representing, promoting, and speaking about BPA educational programs at relevant meetings, events, and conferences
  • Researching, interpreting, and complying with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards in cooperation with federal, state, and local educational programs, including current Perkins legislation
  • Supervising and empowering contractors, test authors, auditors, and volunteers who will help in the execution of all educational programs
  • Participating in planning and developing BPA’s educational programs for annual budgetary purposes
  • Participating in grant proposal planning, preparation, tracking, and compliance with reporting requirements

Professional Learning Oversight

  • Creating, designing, and implementing advisor professional learning frameworks, including training plans, lesson plans, competitive event resources, classroom instructional materials, and student support resources
  • Developing educational frameworks for advisor professional development trainings and recruiting appropriate presenters/facilitators
  • Assessing substantive learning needs while evaluating and improving training curriculum for all advisor groups and levels
  • Continuously reviewing and providing updates to BPA’s professional learning resources to ensure relevancy and accuracy
  • Planning and executing a strategic, well-balanced education platform that supports and builds opportunities across the Middle Level, Secondary, and Post-secondary membership divisions
  • Working alongside the Executive Director/CEO and the Director of Development and Marketing Communications to establish new chapter affiliations throughout the country by working with CTE state leaders

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in education, career and technical education, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Demonstrated success and experience in an educational leadership role
  • Four (4) or more years of relevant training facilitation experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Career and Technical Education and business education with at least three years of experience working with adult and student learners
  • Experience with project management and timely executions
  • Relevant knowledge of industry certification or credentials, including vetting and approval processes for statewide or national promotion
  • A proven track record of training program development and management
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the business career cluster and programs of study
  • Knowledge of adult instructional theories and principles
  • Knowledge of learning and development best practices
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and G Suite products
  • Ability to effectively develop, train, manage, coach, and lead others
  • Strong verbal, written, and communication skills

This position reports to the Executive Director/CEO and provides additional support to the Executive Director/CEO as needed.
